Yesterday we all braved the deluge of rain to deliver our art to the University Place Gallery. Spent the better part of the day arranging and hanging our show. Thanks to Alison for her talented eye... It is coming together beautifully. Our works complement and enhance each other in a provocative and compelling way. Can't wait until the reception to share with all of our friends and colleagues. Until Friday!

Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer

Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer uses abstraction to distill meditations on nature and childhood memories into single dramatic moments. Through a wide variety of mixed media, she creates rich surfaces of extraordinary depth, embodying the tension between freedom and containment. Sirarpi's artwork is in many collections nationally and internationally, she has received several awards, exhibited and curated extensively in galleries throughout Europe and the USA.

Jodi Colella

Artists Sarah Meyers Brent, Jodi Colella and Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer each present unique perspectives on the temporality, duality and flux of existence in their upcoming show this March 2011.

Jodi Colella shapes constructions that mimic the patterns of science while observing the inherent character of materials, transforming them from the ordinary to the unexpected. The results are both beautiful and full of contradictions, monumental and delicate, organic and manmade. Jodi's work has exhibited nationally in museums and galleries winning several awards including from The Textile Center Minneapolis, New Fibers 2010 and will be included in "GREEN: a Color and a Cause" at The Textile Museum in Washington D.C.

Artists Sarah Meyers Brent, Jodi Colella and Sirarpi Heghinian Walzer each present unique perspectives on the temporality, duality and flux of existence in their upcoming show, 'Growth and Decay' this March 2011.

Sarah Meyers Brent collages decomposing natural materials onto her paintings and preserves them in various states of decay. Her representations, sometimes sculptural, integrate the beauty and ugliness found in nature and explore the dynamic processes of inner existence. Work from Sarah's "Overgrown Canvas" series was recently on display at The Painting Center in New York City, at the "Green- What is it?" show at Mount Ida College, and will be featured in the 2011 Northeast edition of New American Painting.
